OUR PHILOSOPHY OF PREACHING

We believe it is important for churches to commit to the equipping of a team of humble men who will work together to preach God's Word to the congregation. This helps prevent the church from being built around the pastor, but instead

OUR CURRENT SERMON SERIES:

May 18th of 2025 we started our new, 13 week sermon series on Paul's Letter to the Ephesians that will likely end on August 17th:

  • Individual Application:
That each person at WFBC would be reminded of and engage with the Gospel message. That they would take the time at the end of each sermon to seriously evaluate and pray about their faith, how they should first SIT in their identity in Christ, WALK according in their new identity despite living in a world that’s not interested in accommodating that lifestyle, and STAND for their faith against Satan’s temptations and the trials of life.

  • Congregational Application:
That we would corporately develop a better habit / practice of regularly meditating / evaluating our faith. That we would practice discipleship amongst others we know in the framework of SIT, WALK, STAND. That the letter to the Ephesians would show us a good way to RESPOND to the Gospel message as we studied in the Gospel of Mark. That it would put off any ambiguity about how to live as a result of who Christ is and what He came to do. That we would learn better and better how to SERVE as Christ served.

OUR PREVIOUS SERMON SERIES:

January 12th we started our 15 week sermon series on the Gospel of Mark that ended on Easter Sunday. Below are some of the reasons we believe this series was important for us to study as a community of believers:

  • The Gospel of Mark serves as a reminder to our community of our identity as disciples of a God who came “not to be served but to serve” (Mark 10:45) and as a people who have been called to, “deny [themselves] and take up [their] cross and follow [Him] (Mark 8:34). The hope is that we will help our church community to seriously reflect on how God is specifically asking each individual to respond to His example of sacrifice and serving in a way that the Great Commission is carried out to an even greater degree.

Colossians 3:16-17

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
